Greece - Itinerary

Day 1-
Upon your arrival in Athens your private car and driver who will transfer you to the Grand Bretagne Hotel, in the heart of the city, will meet you. After checking in for a 3 night stay, the balance of the day is yours to explore the city or simply unwind and enjoy the view of the Acropolis from your deluxe room.

Day 2-
After breakfast this morning, you’ll be met in the lobby of the hotel by your private guide and depart on your private tour of Classical Athens. Begin your exciting tour with a visit to the majestic Acropolis, where you will have the opportunity to admire one of the world's masterpieces, the eternal Parthenon. Continue your tour with the highlights of historical and modern Athens. Enjoy the most famous historical locations of Athens including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier the ex-Royal Palace and the Panathenaikon Stadium, where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held. You will also have time to experience the unique perspective of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s' Arch. Your tour continues with a visit to the New Acropolis Museum. For the first time ever, all the surviving treasures of the Acropolis can be seen in one place. Five collections housed in one stunning museum: the finds from the slopes of the Acropolis, works of the archaic period, the classical Acropolis, the post-Parthenon and the Roman period. A sixth major exhibit features discoveries unearthed by archaeologists during excavations on the museum site. When your tour is complete, you will be returned to your hotel, where the balance of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.

Day 3-
A full day of discovery awaits you. This morning you’ll depart your hotel via private car with your private guide, for visits to the world famous National Archeological Museum and the oldest museum in Greece, The Benaki Museum. THE NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM This is the most important archaeological museum in all of Greece and one of the richest in the world. With its almost one million treasures, the highlights of Greece’s greatest museum are the treasures of Mycenae including the famous mask of the King Agamemnon. Other main collections consist of classical sculptures and ceramics and the important frescoes discovered on the island of Santorini. THE BENAKI MUSEUM The Benaki Museum, housed in an elegant neoclassical mansion, takes you on a journey through millennia of Greek History starting from the depths of prehistory to the 20th century. The museum is a group of collections that comprise many distinct categories totaling more than 40,000 items, illustrating the character of the Greek world through a spectacular historical panorama: from antiquity and the age of Roman domination to the medieval Byzantine period; from the fall of Constantinople (1453) and the centuries of Frankish and Ottoman occupation to the outbreak of the struggle for independence in 1821; and from the formation of the modern state of Greece (1830) down to 1922, the year in which the Asia Minor disaster took place. The Benaki Museum is a favorite of art and culture lovers and holds a special place in the hearts of Athenians. This evening, you may choose to dine in one of Athens’ world class restaurants, or simply stroll the winding streets of Plaka for dinner at a taverna.

Day 4-
Today you depart for Crete. Your private car and driver will meet you at your hotel, taking you to the airport for your flight to Heraklion. Upon arrival, you will be transferred by private car to the five star Elounda Gulf Villas for a three night stay.

Day 5-
Departing your hotel after breakfast, you’re off on a private tour of Knossos, Archanes & Heraklion. A full day tour has been planned, for an in-depth view of Cretan culture and history, beginning with the exploration of the ruins of Knossos Palace. The palace is one of the major must-see archaeological sites in Greece, presenting visitors with a rare glimpse into Minoan civilization. After a walk through the award winning historically restored village of Archanes, enjoy lunch in its picturesque main square. After lunch, drive to Heraklion, for a visit to the Archaeological Museum and time at leisure for you to stroll around the historical center.

Day 6-
A full day at leisure to enjoy the sun at your private pool or we can arrange for a round of golf, a fishing expedition or a private car to be at your disposal for additional sightseeing or shopping.

Day 7-
A morning hydrofoil which takes you to Santorini, considered by many travelers to be the most beautiful of all Greek Islands. Upon arrival at the port in Santorini, you will be met and transferred by private car to Canaves Suites, located in the picturesque village of Oia.

Day 8-
During the day, you may choose to enjoy the many amenities of your hotel or explore the charming village of Oia. One of the experiences that make Santorni famous is the breathtaking color palate created as the sun sets. Most visitors crowd into tavernas, bars and teahouses jostling for a good seat and the perfect view. However, for you, nothing but a front row seat will do. We have arranged for you to experience Santorini’s famous sunset from your own, private, catamaran with captain and crew. Sail the beautiful blue waters of Santorini with a delicious champagne dinner served on board. Your cruise includes a visit to the Red and White Sand Beaches, crusing past ancient Acrotiri, a sail into the caldera (created by the ancient volcano), visit to a hot springs and time to enjoy Palea Kameni island for swimming and snorkeling. A champagne dinner will be served as the the magical sunset appears on the horizon.

Day 9-
Enjoy a leisurely morning before departing on a private, half day tour of Santorini. Your private tour begins with a scenic drive through the plains of Santorini from Oia, from where many artists have been inspired due to its superb views. Your first stop will be at one of the islands famous wineries to enjoy a wine tasting and tour. Our final stop is Fira, the islands capital town. The island used to be circular, but a massive volcanic explosion around 3,500 years ago blew out the center of the island. (Many people attribute the decline of Minoan civilization on Crete to this cataclysmic eruption.) High cliffs jutting into the sea are all that's left of the crater rim. The surrounding islands are the remains of the sides of the crater, and the sea has filled in the gaps, forming a beautiful bay. Sunsets on the island are particularly striking; all the restaurants and bars in Fira face west over the sunken volcano and the Aegean Sea, awaiting the famous Santorini Sunset.

Day 10-
Depart your hotel for the port in Santorini where you will board a high speed hydrofoil for the jet-set island of Mykonos. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred the Hotel Belvedere for a 3 night stay.

Day 11-
Enjoy breakfast before departing on a private tour to the sacred island of Delos. Delos, once a Sacred Island, is the legendary birthplace of the Sun God Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. For 500 years, tiny Delos was the religious and commercial center of the entire Aegean. Today, the only remaining inhabitants are its treasured ruins and their caretakers. Depart Mykonos by boat and make your way to the ancient harbor of Delos for a comprehensive tour. You will first see the Agora (the former city center) and beyond it, the Sacred Way, which leads you to the Temple of Apollo. Next, view the remains of a Hellenistic Quarter with its harbors, water houses, luxurious villas such as the House of Cleopatra, the House of the Dolphin, and the House of the Masks and the House of Dionysus. Continue to the spectacular Avenue of the Lions, where five Naxian marble beasts from the 7th Century BC, still stand as vigilant guardians of the Sacred Lake, which today, stands dry.

Day 12-
A relaxing day on Mykonos. Rent a moped or bicycle, take a traditional Greek boat to one of the islands famous beaches or relax at your hotel. The choice is yours!

Day 13-
A late morning departure from your hotel brings you to the Mykonos airport for a brief flight to Athens. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your airport hotel for one night.

Day 14-
Depart Greece.
