Portugal - Itinerary

Day 1-Porto
Upon arrival you will be met outside of the customs area by your English speaking chauffer who will transfer to the deluxe Hotel Infante Sagres. This afternoon, enjoy a private tour of Porto escorted by an expert guide. Highlights include the Stock Exchange Palace, the Lello bookshop, an exquisite landmark dating to the early 1900's and the Casa do Infante, birthplace of Henry The Navigator.

Day 2-Porto, Regua, Penhao & Lamego
Today, you will depart Porto for the Douro Valley. Your journey, through the Port Wine region, will start at Pacheca Wine Estate, where you will be hosted by the owner, Mr. Serpa Pimentel, who will personally escort you through the vineyards showing you the process of producing their wines. After lunch at the Quinta da Pacheca restaurant, aboard a Rabelo Boat for a private cruise on the Douro River, sailing towards Pinhao where your boat will dock for stunning views of the Douro Valley. You tour will continue to the Seixo Wine Estate, for a tour of the estate owned by Sogrape. At the end of the day you will reach the Douro Valley, and will check in at the 5 star Aquapura Douro Valley Hotel.

Day 3- Lamego, Batalha, Alcobaca & Obidos
Your day begins when your private guide meets you at the hotel for a day of sightseeing. Your first stop is at Batalha for a visit to the Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha, built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. The drive continues to Leiria and the Monastery of Santa Maria d'Alcobaça, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in the 12th century by King Alfonso I, this is a masterpeice of Cistercian Gothic art. You tour will end at the magnificent medieval walled town of Óbidos, where you will check in at the charming Casa das Senhoras Rainhas.

Day 4-Obidos, Muge & Lisbon
In the morning your driver will meet you at your hotel and accompany you to the Casa do Cadaval. This magnificent wine and horse estate, founded during the XII century, is the location of one of the most beautiful Portuguese Palaces. Upon arrival at the estate the master rider at the Riding Hall will personally welcome you and you will have the opportunity to ride a Lusitano Stallion for a classical dressage lesson. After this unforgettable experience you'll have time to taste their wines from the different varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir) as well as selected blends such as Padre Pedro, Herdade de Muge and Marquees of Cadaval. The house oenologist will lecture you on the "secret" flavors while you taste. After your wine tasting you will be invited by the owner of the estate, Countess Teresa Alvares Pereira Schonborn-Wiesentheid of the Domain, and join her for lunch at the Palace. After lunch, a cart pulled by two noble studs, takes you on a private ride, exploring this very unique landscape. Your day is almost ending but, before leaving, tea will be served by the lake spotted with local birds and greenery, an oasis of tranquillity. Proceed to Lisbon, via private car to your hotel, the Internacional Design Hotel, a fashionable and distinguished hotel in the heart of the capital.

Day 5-Lisbon
During the morning, enjoy a private walking tour in the Belem area visiting the 16th century Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery, the incomparable monastery that exemplifies the Manueline style of architecture. One of the greatest navigators, Vasco de Gama, is buried in the monastery's church. You'll also have time to visit the National Coach Museum, a collection of ceremonial carriages used by the Royal Family. In the afternoon your expert guide will lead you on a private visit to the Gulbenkian Museum, where you will view a unique collection bequeathed to Portugal by Calouste Gulbenkian, featuring works by Rembrandt, Manet and Renior. You tour ends in the Alfama district, the heart of Lisbon during Moorish times. The Moors have moved on, but the neighborhood retains an exotic atmosphere.

Day 6-Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais & Queluz
Today is a superb day of sightseeing in the surrounding areas of Lisbon. You'll see castles, fortresses, forests, and beautiful scenery. Your day begins when your chauffeur who will take you to the quaint and aristocratic town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, meets you at the door of your hotel. A tour of Sintra includes a privately guided tour of the Pena Palace. You'll continue towards Queluz, following the Cascais and Estoril Coastline. On the way to Queluz, you will have time for lunch by the sea. After lunch, visit the beautiful 18th century Queluz Palace, reminiscent of Versailles. This evening enjoy a special dinner with a Fado show at the Sr. Vinho restaurant.

Day 7-Lisbon, Reguengos & Evora
After breakfast meet your driver at the hotel lobby and depart for Evora. En route enjoy a stop in Reguengos with a visit to the world famous Esporao Wine Estate vineyards. Lunch will be served at the estate restaurant and you will have the opportunity to taste local olive oils and cheeses, paired with some of their excellent wines. After lunch enjoy a walking city tour, in Evora. Return to Lisbon.

Day 8-Lisbon, Porches
Today, your chauffeur will take you the Algarve where you will check into the luxurious hotel, Vila Vita Parc. After settling in, indulge in a private cooking lesson with a local chef, on the terrace with stunning views of the sea. Lunch, which you have just prepared, will be served, with wine. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the beach or explore the surrounding area.

Day 9-Porches, Lisbon
Today after lunch your chauffeur will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to Lisbon. Arriving at Lisbon, your driver will guide you on a shopping tour to the hippest boutiques and trendiest districts of Bairro Alto and Chiado. You'll overnight at the Internacional Design Hotel for your final night of the program.

Day 10-Departure
According to your flight departure time, your chauffeur will meet you in the hotel lobby and transfer you to the airport.
